La versión mejorada ha sido presentada al concurso de BASIC bytemaniacos 2022 (https://bytemaniacos.com/web/?page_id=3877).  Esta versión difiere un poco de la presentada al concurso: se ha cambiado la generación de botellas de oxígeno para que no puedan quedar botellas atrapadas entre dos asteroides que no se puedan coger.  También se ha incrementado el número de botellas para que sea más justo, aunque al ser generadas de forma seudo-aleatoria podría no ser suficiente en alguna partidas.

ASTRONAUT KERL es un juego para ZX Spectrum 48k. Estas perdido en el espacio y debes llegar a tu nave esquivando los meteoritos antes que el aire se acabe.

Instrucciones: (english below)

Una vez que hemos cargado el programa Astronauta Kerl, nuestro ordenador nos traslada al espacio sideral, donde tendremos que manejar a un astronauta que  al salir a reparar su nave SpaceShip 21 ha sido arrastrado al espacio abierto debido a una lluvia de asteroides.  Deberás regresar a tu nave utilizando la mochila propulsora.  El propulsor utiliza una batería inagotable de neodimio, pero si se recalienta debes parar unos segundos para que se recupere.  Recoge botellas de oxígeno  para no agotar todo el del traje y poder finalizar tu misión.

    Esa zona del espacio es conocida por haberse perdido otras naves en épocas lejanas, así que no te equivoques y encuentra tu nave SpaceShip 21.

    Las teclas de control son “O” y “P” para mover el astronauta a izquierda y derecha.  La tecla “A” se utiliza para accionar el propulsor del traje espacial.

    El juego consta de 11 fases de dificultad creciente.  Para tener éxito en tu misión ten en cuenta:

    1.- Esquiva los asteroides para no ser arrastrado hacia es espacio infinito

    2.- Puedes descansar en los asteroides para frenar tu despla-zamiento al espacio exterior.

    3.- Los asteroides azules tienen mayor gravedad que los blancos y nos hacen consumir más oxígeno.

    4.- Recupera botellas de oxígeno para poder respirar en el espacio y evitar asfixiarte

    5.- Llega a tu nave para finalizar la misión.

    6.- A la izquierda tienes un marcador que sirve de guía para saber la distancia restante a la nave

 Cargar el juego:

Utiliza un emulador de ZX Spectrum 48k por ejemplo Fuse ( https://sourceforge.net/projects/fuse-emulator/ ). En la esquina inferior izquierda de Fuse aparece el modelo de Spectrum utilizado. Solo funciona con el modelo Spectrum 48K. Si aparece uno diferente a Spectrum 48K debes cambiar el modelo en la opción Machine – Select (o F9) seleccionar la opción Spectrum 48K.

Para cargar el juego abre el fichero astrokerl-TCE.1.1.tap en la opción File – Open.

Enhanced version of the game ASTRONAUT KERL for BASIC 10 Liner Contest 2021 https://avlixa.itch.io/astronaut-kerl .

The improved version has been submitted to the BASIC bytemaniacs contest 2022 ( https://bytemaniacos.com/web/?page_id=3877 ).  This version differs slightly from the one submitted to the contest: the generation of oxygen cylinders has been changed so that no bottles can be trapped between two asteroids that cannot be picked up.  The number of cylinders has also been increased to make it fairer, although they are generated in a pseudo-random way, so it might not be enough in some games.

ASTRONAUT KERL is a game for ZX Spectrum 48k. You are lost in space and you must get to your ship by dodging meteorites before the air runs out.

Instructions:

Once we have loaded the Astronaut Kerl program, our computer takes us to outer space, where we will have to manage an astronaut who has been dragged into open space due to an asteroid shower while repairing his SpaceShip 21.  You must return to your ship using the jetpack.  The booster uses an inexhaustible neodymium battery, but if it overheats you must stop for a few seconds to let it recover.  Collect oxygen bottles so you don't use up all the oxygen in your suit and can finish your mission.

    This area of space is known for having lost other ships in distant times, so make no mistake and find your SpaceShip 21.

    The control keys are "O" and "P" to move the astronaut left and right.  The "A" key is used to operate the spacesuit's thruster.

    The game consists of 11 stages of increasing difficulty.  To succeed in your mission keep in mind:

    1.- Dodge the asteroids so as not to be dragged into infinite space.

    2.- You can rest on the asteroids to slow down your drift into outer space.

    3.- Blue asteroids have higher gravity than white asteroids and become in a higher oxygen consume.

     4.- Retrieve oxygen cylinders so that you can breathe in space and avoid suffocation.

    5.- Reach your ship to finish the mission.

    6.- On the left side you have a marker that serves as a guide to know the remaining distance to the ship.

 Load the game:

Use a ZX Spectrum 48k emulator for example Fuse ( https://sourceforge.net/projects/fuse-emulator/ ). In the lower left corner of Fuse you can see the Spectrum model used. It only works with the Spectrum 48K model. If you see a model other than Spectrum 48K you must change the model in the Machine - Select (or F9) option and select the Spectrum 48K option.

To load the game open the file astrokerl.tap in the option File - Open.
